“The Rock” is a special place at Saint Mary’s and known by students and faculty alike as the perfect setting to experience the full glory of fall.
Debbie Blissenbach remembers “The Rock” was one of the first places she went exploring with her friends last year as a freshman. From this location, a variety of colors can be viewed from all over the area – some as far as Goodview, Minnesota.
The hike up to “The Rock” is strenuous, and takes a fair amount of effort. But, this only makes “The Rock” even more unique.
“The hike up to ‘The Rock’ pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become an individual that is willing to try and experience new things,” said Blissenbach. For her, “The Rock” is a hidden gem, where only those eager to seek such a treasure make the trek to reach it.
According to Blissenbach, there are many activities people can engage in at “The Rock” to view the fall its best, including hiking, bird watching, and picnicking.
Blissenbach visits “The Rock” every few weeks. “Every time I hike up there I am in awe at how each time the view becomes more beautiful, especially with the changing of the seasons,” she said.
Blissenbach encourages anyone who loves the outdoors to take time to enjoy the astonishing fall colors that “The Rock” has to offer. Blissenbach remarked, “Fall is a time of year to rejoice in the beauty of change.”
