Saint Mary’s University will hold an all-inclusive carnival event this Saturday, November 18, 2017, and anyone related to the Saint Mary’s community is invited to attend including faculty, staff, students, and their families.
The event, Cardinal Fest, will feature a raffle with $1,000 in prizes, four inflatable activities, a photo booth, a fajita bar provided by Chartwells, and a door prize giveaway.
Mike Ostman, current director of Student Activities at Saint Mary’s, said he and his collaborators pulled out all the stops for Cardinal Fest and it is on track for success.
“What we are trying to start is the tradition of a true end of fall semester celebration,” said Ostman. “Our goals are to have an event where faculty and staff can bring their families and students can unwind before the downhill sprint to finals that happens after Thanksgiving, and we can bring everyone together as a community.”
Ostman said Cardinal Fest is the product of a collaboration involving various groups including Student Activities, Student Activities Committee, Alumni Relations, Future Alumni Committee, Athletics, SAAC, and Chartwells.
The groups have been working for weeks to pull all the aspects of the event together to create a unique experience for attendees. Ostman expressed his excitement to see all the work he and others put in pay off. “I’ll definitely be scaling the climbing wall, hitting people in bumper cars, and playing some Hungry Hungry Hippos,” said Ostman. “It’ll be crazy this week getting prepped, but it’s all worth it when people come and have a great time.”
