Spanning the areas of communications and healthcare, a Mayo Clinic communications consultant will give an interdisciplinary presentation about “plain language” as it is used in healthcare and “steps for success” after graduation.
Margaret G. Mester has over 30 years of experience in communications and 20 years of experience serving patients and caregivers as a health and medical writer and editor.
In her current position, Mester translates medical documents with medicine-related terminology into familiar, every day language for average consumers to use. Mester writes solely in “plain language” in her work and has trained various teams at the Mayo Clinic to do the same.
Mester is hosted by the university’s Public Relations and Business Club and will present in the Science and Learning Center Auditorium from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017.
