Weekly Student Interview: Jake Mencacci

This week as part of the Cardinal Column, Weekly Student Interviews, The Cardinal sat down with junior, Business Management major, Jake Mencacci. A very active member in the Saint Mary’s Community, Mencacci is involved in many different activities on campus from Baseball to Residence Life.

Cardinal: What the main reason that you decided to come to Saint Mary’s University?

Jake Mencacci: I chose Saint Mary’s mainly because I wanted to continue playing baseball while receiving a top of the line education, giving me many different opportunities.

C: What is your favorite thing to eat up in the Cafeteria?

JM: You can’t go wrong with the sandwich line!

C: Where is your favorite study spot on campus?

JM: My favorite study spot on campus would have to be the basement of the library in one of the cubicles behind the book stacks.

C: Besides being a member of the Saint Mary’s Baseball team, what else are you involved in?

JM: In addition to being a student-athlete, I am also co-president of service, Saint Teresa and Saint Peter Leadership club; member of College Republicans, member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and I am a Resident Assistant in Saint Benilde Hall.

C: So far, what has been your favorite class that you have taken?

JM: It’s a toss-up between Into to Literature with Brother Stephen, Environmental Biology, and Business Law.

C: What would you describe as your “dream job?”

JM: My dream job would to be the General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks.

C: What are you most looking forward to this year?

JM: Without a doubt the end of this semester.

C: Jesse McCartney is going to be visiting our campus in the next couple weeks, if you could choose, what celebrity guest would you want SMU to bring to campus?

JM: Garth Brooks
