This Saturday at 11 a.m. on Saint Mary’s University campus, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting a 5k race called “The Kayla Strong 5k Climb” to help raise money for the Jones family and show our support.
At the end of July, Kayla Jones, younger sisters to SMUMN Women’s Basketball player Sam Jones, was hit by a car late one night when she was out with friends. Kayla suffered many injuries including injuries to her skull and neck which were very worrisome. From that moment on, Kayla under went many stressful surgeries. Kayla is now on the road to recovery and the entire Saint Mary’s community wants to help raise money for the family and show that SMUMN is Kayla Strong.
We want to “Climb for Kayla” and show that we are right alongside the family in their climb towards recovery because it’s an uphill battle, but it’s all about the climb.
Online registration is now open! It is $15.00 to participate in this event which includes a T-shirt. All other proceeds goes towards the Jones family. Can’t make the event but want to help? There is a donation space on the online registration.
Race starts promptly at 11 a.m. and check-in begins at 10:15 a.m. near the Gazebo on campus.
