WINONA, Minn. — It’s Monday morning, and time to take one final look back at the highlights of the week that was—by the numbers.

1: Austin Jacobs (Cannon Falls, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate save, tossing a hitless ninth inning in the Cardinal baseball team’s 7-6 win over Cornell (Iowa) last Saturday at the Wheaton Tournament.

Saint Mary’s men’s basketball senior Mark Schumacher (Perham, Minn.) was named Saint Mary’s Outstanding Male Senior at last Tuesday’s Founder’s Day Convocation.

2: Julia Boeve (St. James, Minn.) and Megan Vandenberg (De Pere, Wis.) each picked up singles wins in both of the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team’s matches last weekend.

3-0: The Saint Mary’s baseball team won all three of its games at the Wheaton Tournament last weekend—beating Aurora (12-2), Wheaton (10-5), and Cornell (7-6).

3: Nathan Mathwig (Woodbury, Minn.) picked up his team-leading third win of the season for the Saint Mary’s baseball team, throwing 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief in the Cardinals’ 7-6 win over Cornell (Iowa) last Saturday at the Wheaton Tournament. Mathwig has not allowed a run in 11 2/3 innings of work this season.

3: Jake Barry (Tinley Park, Ill.) blasted his team-leading third home run of the season in the Cardinal baseball team’s 12-2 win over Aurora last Friday. Barry, who has accounted for three of the team’s four round-trippers this season, also hit three home runs in his first year as a Cardinal last season.

4: Haley Jorgensen (Fallon, Nev.) and Marissa Kinzer (Aitkin, Minn.) have teamed to win four straight doubles matches for the Cardinal women’s tennis team—and the two share the team lead with seven dual-match doubles wins.

5: Tyler Lursen (Maple Grove, Minn.), Ben Buerkle (Roseville, Minn.), Jake Barry (Tinley Park, Ill.), and Willie Doll(Amherst, Wis.) all collected a team-high five hits in the Cardinal baseball team’s three games at the Wheaton Tournament last weekend.

8: Warren Lawrenz (Rochester, Minn.) collected his team-leading eighth dual-match singles win for the Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team against Concordia last Sunday and heads into the Cardinals’ match against Bethel on April 2 having won eight of his last 12 singles matches.

9-0 x 3: The Cardinal women’s tennis team picked up its third 9-0 victory of the season last Sunday, blanking Concordia in the teams’ MIAC match in Fargo, N.D.

9: With their No. 3 doubles win for the Cardinal men’s tennis team against Concordia last Sunday, Brenden Amiotte(Rapid City, S.D.) and Brett Giesen (Cato, Wis.) pushed their team lead in dual-match doubles wins to nine each.

15: Ben Buerkle (Roseville, Minn.), who had a hit in all three of the Cardinal baseball team’s games at the Wheaton Tournament last weekend, has reached base safely in all 15 games.

29-13: The Saint Mary’s baseball team outscored its three opponents 29-13 at last weekend’s Wheaton Tournament. The Cardinals beat Aurora 12-2, Wheaton 10-5, and Cornell 7-6.

.556: Tyler Lursen hit a team-best .556 (5-for-9)—including a 3-for-4, four-RBI effort against Aurora—in the Cardinal baseball team’s three games at the Wheaton Tournament last weekend.

.909: Ben Buerkle (Roseville, Minn.) boasted a .909 slugging percentage in the Cardinal baseball team’s three games at the Wheaton Tournament last weekend. Buerkle finished with five hits—including a double and two triples—scored five times and drove in four runs in the Cardinals’ three wins.
